Waiting.
Waiting for a treacle storm to splash the hem of my coat.
Sticking it so it becomes hard to edge forward.
The sweet sugary goodness lapping my skin.
Hurting my eczema that I’ll regret in 2 days time.
But I long to feel the refined sugar whipping my body.
The trouble is when these treacle storms come you get a sugar high.
A taste that hits your lips and you know it’s not good for your cellulite.
The sugar high becomes a sugar come down and you’re left with your body paralysed.
Stuck to a £220 coat struggling to edge forward.
An irritated face red and sore from a moment of greed.
It takes two and a half times longer than people say it does to get out of the treacle storm, launder your clothes, see the doctors about your face and walk forwards again.
You think - well I’m grateful for the hit
But were you really?
You’re left glamourising the time you spent waiting in the warm and dry, for a storm to come.
Maybe the next one will be different you think, knowing that there’s the same amount of e - numbers as the last.
Even if it protests it comes from naturally occurring sugars.
